Computer monitors contain an average of four pounds of lead plus small amounts of other forms of toxins including mercury and cadmium-facts courtesy of US EPA). This is why we need you to help make this event truly a success! Volunteers are needed between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm on the 23rd. For more information or to volunteer, call Keep Decatur County Beautiful at 246-3611.
E-Recycling Facts:
· Recycling electronics allows precious metals, glass, steel and plastics to be used again.
· Disposing of electronics is hazardous to the environment as toxic materials such as lead and mercury enter landfills around our communities, possibly contaminating ground water.
· It takes less energy to make recycled products from used electronics than new products.
