Southwest Georgia Welcome Center Grand Opening with Governor Sonny Perdue, Secretary of State Cathy Cox and are legislators.The Southwest Georgia Welcome Center is located at the intersection of Hwy 27 and Hwy 84 in Bainbridge. The Welcome Center is fully staffed Monday through Saturday 8:00 A.M . to 5:00 P.M. assisting travelers visiting, or passing through, Southwest Georgia.

The friendly staff at the Welcome Center invites you to stop by whether your traveling through or a local resident. Let us show you what we have to offer.


At the Welcome Center, you'll find the following:

  • Professional Staff - The Welcome Center is staffed 6 days a week. There is always a friendly face to greet you and provide assistance with whatever travel-related questions or needs you may have.
  • Picnic Tables and Area - Our sheltered picnic tables and outdoor charcoal grills provide the perfect location to enjoy getting out of the car for a meal and enjoying the outdoors.
  • Printed Travel Information - The Welcome Center provides brochures, maps, flyers, and other travel-related information free of charge.
  • Discounts and Special Rates - Be sure to ask about discounts that are offered to travelers. It may be well worth stopping by as you travel through the area.

Decatur-Grady 911 Communications Operator Trainee - Part- time (34 hrs per week) during 6 month training period. Insurance/Retirement Benefits after training and Certification. 18 yrs of age, HS diploma or GED, background check, drug screen and driver's history required. Must be able to work rotating shift, weekends, holidays and be on call.

Georgia Certified Paramedic- ITLS & PALS Preferred - 24/48 hr shifts.  Up to $4000 Sign On Bonus

County Calendar

The next regular Board of Commissioners meeting is 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at County Administrative offices on Broughton Street. Call 248-3030 for more information. Commission minutes from previous meetings can be viewed at bottom of County Commission main page.

The Second Annual Decatur County Employee Health Fair will be held Tuesday, August 19, at the Administration Building at 203 W. Broughton St. It is recommended that any employee wishing to participate in the free lab work should fast at least 12 hours before having blood drawn. Smoking Cessation classes begin in September, as well as a series of "Lunch & Learn" health sessions.
